2010 Running Season!

Well my mother will be crewing for me during the Laramie 100 June 26-27, it will be exciting because this is my moms first ultra she will witness. So my training is going good, I just can't wait for my next 100, but it will be here before you know it. The weather here in Colorado has been in the mid 50's so running outside hasn't been a problem. I have been trying out this new diet called the Caveman Diet. It is just what it sounds like you eat everything that a caveman would've ate, lean meats, fruits, veggies, & nuts & berries. You are not allowed to eat processed foods & grains (breads, rice, & beans). The transformation from eating all carbs to eating only slow-acting carbs is hard at first but I weaned myself off slowly & I feel my energy getting back to normal. The only processed food I eat is the old standby Ensure drink when i'm running, it has 350 cal & full of fat, carbs, & protein, that you need to have during long training runs & races. The other thing I was going to write about was the new orthotics that me & my wife had custom made. The great people at In-Step of Boulder (Art especially the owner) fitted us for the shoe insert & they have totally took away my knee pain during running. They have lived up to my expectations totally. My wife & I have high arches so wearing these in our shoes help with foot placement. They will be in my shoes from now on. Well that is what's going on in my life at this time, more to come later, happy training to those preparing for the running season & for those who are not it is never to late. Happy running,
Stephen
